What is in your hand?

I have spent so many years as many of us do, trying to figure out what it was that I was purposed to do in life.  I knew that I had something God was going to use for his glory but I had no idea what that was.  In my mind there wasn’t anything that I was good at, at least not anything that I enjoyed.  One day I was on the phone with my best friend expressing my frustrations with her.  She said “surely you are good at something.” I’m not, I don’t have any talents,”is what I told her.  She said “you are good at writing.”  And it hit me like a ton of bricks, I am good at writing.  I had been writing my whole entire life; jouraling, writng songs, letters, stories, poetry, and my favorite assignments in school were always writing assignments.  How exactly did I miss that,  how had I been writing all these years and never saw it for what it was?  My gift from God.

I am not sure if any of you can relate to my story but God has placed something on the inside of you that he wants to use for his glory too.  Just like Moses, God wants to use you and he has already equiped you with what you need.  Everyone knows the story of Moses but not many realize that they have more in common with Moses than they may think.

Moses was chosen by God to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt.  Moses was afraid, just as anyone would be if approached with so great a mission.  He does everything he can to get out of having to do what God has asked him.  Moses was worried that they would not listen to him.  That he did not have what it takes.  Does that sound familiar?

Exodus 4:1

And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, the Lord hath not appeared unto thee.

I love God’s response to Moses!

Exodus 4:2-5

And the Lord said unto him, what is that in thine hand? And he said, A Rod.  And he said, Cast it on the ground.  And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.  And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail.  And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand; That they may believe that the Lord God of their Fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

God used what Moses already had to show the people the truth of who he was.  Moses did not have to go searching for something, nor did he need anything that he did not already have.

I have news for you.  You also have something that God wants to use.  You also have a God given mission.  The world is lost and is seeking for truth and God wants to use you to spread his truth and love to the world.

Mark 16:15

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. – Mark 16:15

It may be your platform, your writing, your talent, your creativity, your business, or your dream.   There is something that you have RIGHT NOW, on the inside of you that God wants to use for his glory.

Now my question to you is, what is in your hand?

I’m excited to see how God will use you.  Be blessed
