Moses is an interesting person to read about. He escaped death by the bravery of his mother, and was raised in the house of Pharaoh by his daughter. Moses’s mother was the one that nursed him until he grew, then she released him to his new mother (the daughter of Pharaoh). I can imagine Moses’s mother talking to him as a child while nursing him. Telling him who he really was and where he came from. Moses never forgot his people and in defending them found himself as an outcast running for his life. While keeping the flock of his Father in law, Moses has an encounter with God who tells Moses that he will send him to Pharaoh to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt. Moses was afraid, just as anyone would be if approached with so great a mission. He does everything he can to get out of having to do what God has asked him. Moses was worried that they would not listen to him.
And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, the Lord hath not appeared unto thee. – Exodus 4:1
Moses had a fear of man, which is something that many of us deal with but are unaware. A fear of man is being fearful of what man will think about you, say about you, how they will receive you. This is a natural feeling to have but as children of God we have no need to fear man. God’s perfect love towards us will cast out all fear that we may have (1 John 4:18).
I love God’s response to Moses
And the Lord said unto him, what is that in thine hand? And he said, A Rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand; That they may believe that the Lord God of their Fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. – Exodus 4:2-5
God used what Moses already had to show the people the truth of who he was. Now the question I have for you is, what is in your hand? The world is lost and is seeking for the truth and God wants to use you to spread his truth to the world.
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. – Mark 16:15
It may be your platform, your writing, your talent, your creativity, your business, or your dream. There is something that you have right now in your life, or inside of you that God wants to use for his glory. Don’t let a fear of man hinder you from changing the lives of those around you. Everyone will not understand what you are doing or why you are doing it. But don’t let that deter you, let the love of God be your focus and watch all fear fade away.
I’m excited to see how God will use you. Be blessed
